For the 2014-2015 school year we will be using Studies Weekly publications. This is
a new format for core curriculum, where the chapters of the ‘textbook’ are published as weekly
magazines. They look like magazines, but they teach the same information that textbooks do, they are
not intimidating like textbooks and they’re updated every year.
Studies Weekly magazines are colorful with vivid illustrations. They have formal and informal
assessments, crossword puzzles, contests, writing assignments, jokes, biography spotlights,
geography with colorful maps and charts, economics lessons, cultural spotlights, etc.
Because the magazines are updated each year they are totally relevant and teach our current state
social studies standards. Having Studies Weekly will make the difference so that we can teach social
studies the way we've always wished we could.
